Obituary of Andrew Murphy

Andrew Murphy, 92, of DeKalb, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, in DeKalb. Mr. Murphy was born Jan. 21, 1921, in DeKalb. He was a commercial painter and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, LuEthel Murphy. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Charles and Alma Murphy of DeKalb, Curtis and Isiacannon Murphy of Mount Pleasant, Texas, Lonnie and Beatrice Murphy of Dallas and Robert and Betty Mill of Houston; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Jacqueline and Randell Holmes of Houston; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. B.R. Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Hooks Cemetery under direction of Richardson Hill Funeral Home.
