Charlie John (Chappie) Chiles was born Aug. 27, 1925 in Paris, Texas to the union of Gilbert and Fannie Chiles.
Mr. Chiles departed this life in the early morning of Friday, December 6th, 2013 at Wadley Hospital ICU in Texarkana, Texas.
He confessed Christ at an early age and later joined Mount Orange Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor, Rev. S. A. Stuckey.
Throughout his childhood, he attended school in Texarkana, Texas. He worked at Texas Pacific Railroad and later at Davis Lumber Company in Texarkana, Arkansas from where he retired.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Benton Chiles; his parents; his son Charles Clifford Chiles (and his mother Faye Chiles King); and his seven brothers and five sisters.
To cherish his memory, he leaves one sister, Edna Chiles Anderson of Ogden, Utah; one special niece, Edna Harris of Houston; two special nephews, Oscar Webster of Texarkana, Texas and Daleforde Langston of Waco, Texas; two great-nieces, Carnetta Harris Washington of Houston, Texas and Labretha Webster of Dallas, Texas; four great-nephews, Tony Harris Sr. (Angela) of Kathleen, Georgia, Michael Perry (Alisa) of Bay City, Texas, Arthur James Webster of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Terrance Webster of Dallas, Texas; two special great-great-nephews, Phillip N. Washington Jr. and Avery B. Washington--both of Houston, Texas; and a host of other great-great-nieces and nephews; many other relatives; and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Orange Baptist Church with the Rev. Leslie Brembry, Pastor of Mount Orange Baptist Church, officiating under direction of Richardson Hill Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
