Hattie Mae Nelson, 86, of Texarkana, Texas, departed this life Monday, April 28, 2014, at her home.
Ms. Nelson was born July 1, 1927, in Birmingham, Ala. She was a bay leader at Lone Star Ammunition Plant, and a member of Zeta Amica Auxiliary Gamma Kappa Chapter and Hopewell Temple CME Church and choir.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Nelson of Texarkana; two daughters, Brenda Nelson of Las Vegas and Chandra Nelson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her stepmother, Rosa Mae Crittenden of Birmingham; eight brothers, Dan Crittenden, Ollie Ball Crittenden, Marvin Crittenden, Melvin Crittenden, Kenneth Crittenden, Kenneth Crittenden and Jimmy Crittenden of Chicago and Calvin Crittenden and Carnell Glover of Birmingham; 10 sisters, Ollie Mae Palmer, Beverly King, Brenda Simms and Glenda Givins of Birmingham, Juanita Wells, Rosa Pearl Norment and Jeannie Travis of Chicago, Minnie Crenshaw of Long Beach, Calif., Sharon Carter of Nashville, Tenn., and Linda Davis of Lansing, Mich.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hopewell Temple CME Church with the Rev. Charlie W. Coleman III officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under direction of Richardson Hill Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
