Elbert W. Allen, 69, of Texarkana, Texas, departed this life Monday, June 16, 2014 in a local hospital.
Mr. Allen was born February 20, 1945 in Texarkana, Texas to the late William McKinnly and Lee Anna Jones.
Elbert Allen married the love of his life, Ida B. Allen, on March 28, 1964, and to this union there were five children.
Mr. Allen attended Grand View School and attended services at Mt. Zion First Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was employed as a mechanic.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his mother and father; three brothers; three sisters; his wife of forty-two years, Ida B. Allen; a daughter; and a son. He leaves to cherish his memory, seven sons, Elbert Allen Jr., Correy Allen, Cedric Allen, Gerry Hurd and Patrick Hurd--all of Texarkana, Texas; five daughters, Dorothy Allen, Beverly Allen, Demetrice Hurd and Danyelle Hurd--all of Texarkana, Texas and Darnisha Hurd of Atlanta, Texas; twenty-four grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
