Obituary of Velma Brown

Velma Jean Brown, 72, of Texarkana, Texas, departed this life Monday, July 20, 2015, in a local hospital. Mrs. Brown was born January 13, 1943 in Texarkana. She was a retired production worker and a Singing Praise Chorus choir member and member of Atlanta Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Brown; one daughter, Ida Brown; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Brown, Sr.; one daughter, Ida Brown; her parents, Bobbie Molden and Young; two brothers, Willie C. Kirkland and Devid Kirkland; and two sisters, Annie B. Young and Helen Turner. To cherish her memories, she leaves two sons, Herman Brown of Texarkana, Texas and Alex (Iris) Brown of Terry, Oklahoma; three daughters, Georgia Nelson of Texarkana, Texas, Patricia Brown of Hope, Arkansas, and Velma McCowan of Charlotte, North Carolina; one son, Anthony Molden of Bakersfield, California; and two sisters, Ida B. Johnson of Bakersfield, California and Lois J. Davis of Dallas, Texas; and many other loved ones. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Atlanta Street Church of Christ with Steve Williams officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under direction of Richardson Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
