Obituary of Vernice Cheatham

Vernice Cheatham, 80, of Wilton, Arkansas, departed this life June 17, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Cheatham was a member of Davis Chapel AME Church. She was a homemaker and a member of the Davis Chapel Missionary Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Paris and Josephine Johnson Matthews; three brothers, David, Troy Lynn, and Plenard "Pete" Matthews; and three sisters, Dollie Crawford, Julia Palmer, and Vurda Lee Jones. To cherish her memory, she leaves her husband, Jerome Cheatham of Wilton, Arkansas; her daughter, Deborah Garrett (Alphaeus) of Wilton, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Brian Matthews, LéDestine Matthews (Rachel); Aleshia Garrett, and Amber Garrett; four great-grandchildren, Bradley Matthews, Kelsie Youngblood, Zoë Youngblood, and Jayden Miles Ross; five God-children, Doris Johnson, Tiffany Johnson, Welton Johnson, Doug Dunn, Colleen Huskins; beloved nieces and nephews; and many cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives, church family, childhood, and long-time friends.
