Versie Mae Holmes (Sister Girl) was born July 21, 1931 in Patmos, Arkansas to John and Hattie Smith. She attended Dunbar High School. Versie met and married her high school sweet-heart, Earnest Holmes. She was the mother of nine boys. Versie was the example of a true Christian woman. She truly loved the Lord. To know her was to love her. She attended St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Versie held many different positions in the church. She was a Missionary Worker. Versie was employed with Lone Star Plant until her retirement. She also worked private duty for Greg Arnold. She was preceded in death by her husband; Father and Mother; Sons, Michael Holmes and Gregory Holmes; Grand-Daughter, Conequa Holmes; Grand-Son, Cameron Thomas; Step-Father, George Scoggins; Sisters, Sallie Smith and Jennie Carrigan; Brothers John Smith and George Scoggins.
Versie Holmes leaves to cherish her memory seven sons:

2 Sisters – Gertha Gellette, Josephine Moore (both of San Francisco, CA)
