Obituary of Marvyn Theresa Pegue

Marvyn was born on May 15, 1928 to Andrew Johnson and Helen Richie Johnson. She was raised in Domino, Texas where she graduated from Rosenwald High School. She continued her education at Prairie View college in Prairieview, Texas. Marvyn eventually met Eugene Pegue in Texarkana, Texas. They married on February 14, 1969. They became parents of one child a son, DeMarcus Eugene Pegue.
Marvyn went to work for Bolls Distributing Company Inc. where she worked over 30 years before retiring. As a young girl, her parents installed in her and her siblings a strong work ethic. She inherited their strong work ethics.
Marvyn was very family oriented. She loved and was there for her family. Marvyn enjoyed going to annual church conferences throughout the years. She was loved by her church family, and would lend a helping hand to Hopewell CME church whenever asked.
Marvyn was baptized at St. Paul CME Church at an early age in Domino, Texas She was faithful and dedicated member of Hopewell CME Church for 53 years. At Hopewell CME Church Marvyn served in many capacities (Secretary of the Stewardess Board, Member of the Finance Committee, Member of the Senior Choir, Chairman of the Food Committee, Vie President of the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher Class Leader, Recording Steward). Marvyn was crowned Miss Hopewell three times and was called the “BOSS” on the Usher Board because she would keep everyone on their toes regarding their duties and positions.
Marvyn will be remembered as a loving and caring woman. She was well respected and loved by her family, church family, and community.

Husband: Eugene Pegue (2000)
Brother: Richard Johnson (2009)
Sister: Betty Jo Rich (2009)
To cherish her memory, Marvyn leaves:
Son: DeMarcus Eugene Pegue (Tanisha) of Texarkana, Texas
Grandchildren: Elexis Pegue, Alize’ Pegue (Addison), and DeMarcus Pegue II
Great Grandchild: Braxton Pegue-Mitchell
