Obituary of Marye Louise Willingham
Mrs. Marye Louise Willingham, a cherished soul with a heart of gold, was born on July 26, 1952, in Texarkana, Texas, to the late Leon Davenport, Sr. and Elve Davenport. On July 14, 2023, she peacefully returned to the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.
From the tender age of 4 years old until adulthood, Marye was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, the late LeeDell and Callie Williams, who served as her "bonus parents." Their profound influence played a significant role in shaping Marye into the remarkable woman she became.
In 1970, Marye graduated from Arkansas High School, embarking on a life filled with purpose and devotion. Throughout her career, she dedicated her time and skills to Liberty-Eylau High School, Globe Union, Meyer's Bakery, & Christus St. Michael's Hospital, ultimately retiring from her position. Her commitment and work ethic were evident in every task she undertook.
A faithful member and devoted tither of Calvary Christian Church, Marye found solace and strength in her unwavering faith. Her spiritual connection provided her with guidance and comfort, as she wholeheartedly embraced her church community.
Marye shared an extraordinary bond with her beloved husband, Bryant Willingham, whom she affectionately devoted 44 treasured years to. Of those, 41 were blessed as a married couple. Together, they exemplified a profound love and unwavering commitment that inspired all who knew them.
A woman known for her sassy demeanor and radiant personality, Marye possessed a genuine heart overflowing with love for her family. Her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she spared no effort in supporting them. Marye's unwavering presence brought joy to every gathering, and she showered those around her with authentic support and boundless love. Affectionately known as "Marye Lou," she will forever hold a place in the hearts of those she touched.
Marye was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle/ "bonus parents"; her niece Cicely Johnson; and her brothers, Leon Davenport Jr., Rickey Davenport, William Davenport, and Ronald "Ray" Davenport. Though her physical presence may be gone, the memories of her vibrant spirit and the impact she made on countless lives will endure.
Marye Louise Willingham leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
